About Anne Randolph
Anne Randolph from Ireland, now living and working in Wicklow is a singer of contemporary folk and Celtic songs which she has sourced throughout her life from old teachers, folklore and other musicians.
Anne selects and sings songs that touch the heart and have a strong story to tell as ultimately this is what all singer’s do– tell the stories. She has found a rich source of material in the works of early Irish and Celtic writers such as Thomas Moore, W B Yeats, and Robbie Burns partnering these with the strong folk and blues tunes of the 60’s and beyond, singing the songs of such artists as Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan, and more current artists such as Mick Hanly, Keith Donald, Iris DeMent, Natalie Merchant among others.
Anne has two grown up sons both successful sportsmen, her son Darren Randolph is a professional footballer having been the Ireland soccer team Goalkeeper for many years, and now lives with his partner and child in London. Neil is an accountant, has represented Ireland in basketball, and plays with Templeogue Basketball Club and has a love of cliff jumping and anything outdoors. Her husband is Ed Randolph, well known basketball player and coach in south county Dublin for many years.
Anne is also a psychotherapist specialising in working with adolescents. She studied for a masters in adolescent psychotherapy such was her passion to support young people and this speaks to the heart of her being – to bring support, joy and love in word, action and, of course music to those around her.
Anne has guested with ‘Ladies In the Blues’ before the onset of Covid-19, singing the material of Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan and others.
The Anne Randolph Band performs in venues around the country and has sold out concerts in The Mill Theatre, Dundrum, The Whale Theatre, Greystones, The Sugar Club, Dublin, The Town Hall Theatre, Kiltimagh and other small venues around the country.
She has performed with The UCD Choir for the university’s ‘Choirs for Cancer’ event in 2023 and for their subsequent event to raise money for medical equipment for Ukraine. As a versatile singer she is open to new experiences and takes these opportunities with great pleasure.
Anne has released an album, ‘If This Be Love’, with twelve soulful songs telling stories to touch the heart. The album consists of eight covers and four original songs featuring two from the pen of Mick Hanly, writer of the title track ‘If This Be Love’, and two from Keith Donald, one of these with Paul Williams collaborating on ‘Still there’. A very talented and experienced band supports Anne on her travels featuring Keith Donald on clarinet, Garvan Gallagher on double-bass, Vera Craughwell on accordion, and various guest guitarists from Matthew Mazanek, Robbie Overson, Charlie Mooney, and Frankie Lane on dobro.
